Oil Lamp (Aroma Lamp)

The Taizé oil lamp is a simple, handcrafted ceramic lamp from the Poterie de Taizé in Burgundy. With its calm shape and warm, subtle glazes, it stands for light, stillness, and community – inspired by the meditative atmosphere of Taizé prayers.

Each lamp is made of ceramic and glazed by hand. This results in subtle differences in color, surface, and texture, making each piece unique. The flat, harmonious shape with a central wick opening appears understated yet special – ideal for devotions, prayer rooms, home altars, or quiet moments at home.

The lamp can be used with commercially available cooking oil, such as rapeseed or sunflower oil. The wick soaks up the oil and, once lit, burns with a gentle, warm flame. However, we recommend paraffin oil or lamp oil based on rapeseed oil, as the lamp then shows a more beautiful flame.

Please use the oil lamp only on a firm, level surface and never leave it burning unattended.
